Friends VS Money. What makes you happier?
Hey guys,
Connected. Insanely good book. I’m only 50 pages into it and it’s already blown me away.
So, this is what I wanted to share with you.
You’ve got 15% more chances of being happy if you’re directly connected to a friend who is happy! 😊 😊 😊
You’ve got 10% more chances of being happy if your friend’s friend is happy (2 degrees of separation)! 😊 😊
And 6% more chances if the friend of a friend of a friend is happy (3 degrees of separation)! 😊
Don’t ask for more! After 3 degrees of separation, the effect is insignificant!
And they carry on…
If this doesn’t sound like a big deal, compare it with the effect that extra income has on happiness.
In 1984 they found that an extra £2000 (£7000 in 2009’s money) would make you only 2% happier!
Not sure if that’s per month or per year (they don’t say) … but… in any case, it’s something to consider!
Nice one, isn’t it?
Guys, what types of friends make you happy? A friend with the same interests? Another online entrepreneur? Another marketer with whom you talk business? Or someone who doesn’t have a clue what you’re doing there all day with your laptop?
Something I discovered about myself after I tried the laptop lifestyle travelling the world is that one needs a base, needs some routine, needs friends with whom he hangs around… Skype is not enough. Subscribers are not enough.
Anyway, what do you think?
Kindness and smiles,
Angelos

Money is important for a short while as it allows you to get the tasks done that you want, buy what’s necessary and have the lifestyle that you crave. However all this is worthless without friends as there is connection to anything. Your flighty as you have no roots so are continually blown around the world like a dandelion seed. Friends give meaning but you got to get the right friends. The wrong ones encourage bad habits which are very hard to break once engrained in your psyche. You already know all the answers as I believe it was Plato who came up with the idea of someone questioning you to draw out all of the knowledge that is already contained within you that you are not consciously aware of.
Marcus Aurelius sounds like a good book to read as it’s quoted often too.
I loved what you wrote Angela. Draw out all the knowledge that is already contained within you that you’re not consciously aware of! Beautiful! I found that wonderful. Thank you!
